Monthly Digest

The Keyway Digest | August '26

A monthly look at what we're building—and where commercial real estate AI is headed.

From AI Pilots to Real Business Infrastructure

Commercial real estate has reached an interesting point in its AI journey.

Not long ago, the conversation was about experimentation. Teams were testing copilots, exploring document automation, and trying to understand what large language models could actually do.

Today, the conversation is different.

The firms creating the most value aren't necessarily the ones trying the most AI tools; they're the ones figuring out how to embed AI into everyday operations.

That's the inflection point we've been thinking about lately.

Everything we've built recently, from Enterprise Intelligence to Live Loan Narratives, reflects that shift. Our focus has been simple: helping CRE teams spend less time searching, reconciling, and rewriting, and more time thinking strategically, building relationships, and driving business growth.

And definitely one of the most rewarding parts of building Keyway is hearing directly from the people using it every day.

Enterprise Intelligence: How CRE Firms Can Outsmart the Competition With Their Own Data

One of our latest launches was Enterprise Intelligence.

Commercial real estate firms have spent decades building one of their greatest competitive advantages: their own institutional knowledge.

Past acquisitions, investment committee decisions, lease portfolios, operating expenses, financial models, asset management reports…and more.

The problem isn't that the information doesn't exist, but rather that nobody can access it when they actually need it. And Enterprise Intelligence changes that.

Instead of forcing firms to adopt another platform, Keyway connects directly to the systems teams already use—including Salesforce, Snowflake, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams and internal document repositories—and allows users to query years of institutional knowledge using natural language.

But the biggest shift isn't simply getting answers faster.

It's turning the questions your teams ask every day into repeatable workflows.

An acquisitions team can instantly surface operating expenses from comparable deals reviewed years ago. An asset manager can generate portfolio reports in minutes instead of weeks. And legal teams can review hundreds of JV agreements without manually opening every document.

The result isn't just faster search; it's institutional knowledge becoming part of how your business operates.

Loan Narratives That Stay Connected to the Deal

We also introduced our new Loan Narrative & IC Memo Generator.

Creating a loan narrative shouldn't require days of copying information between spreadsheets, PDFs, appraisals, rent rolls and Word documents.

Keyway now generates complete loan narratives and investment committee memos directly from deal documents in approximately 30 minutes.

More importantly, those narratives remain connected to the underlying deal.

When assumptions change, financials update, or new documents arrive, the narrative updates with them. No stale versions, no manual rewrites, no wondering whether the number in the memo still matches the source document.

That's the difference between creating a document and creating living infrastructure.

Help Shape Our Next Industry Report

Last year, more than 150 commercial real estate professionals participated in our research on AI Adoption.

This month we're launching our second industry study: AI Maturity in Commercial Real Estate.

The conversation has evolved, and the question is no longer whether firms are experimenting with AI, but what separates organizations that successfully move from isolated pilots to enterprise-wide deployment.

If you'd like to contribute, we'd love to hear your perspective.

Everyone who participates will receive the final report, including key findings and actionable insights.

What We're Watching

One trend continues to stand out.

The biggest challenge in commercial real estate isn't model capability anymore. Today's AI models are already incredibly capable.

The real challenge is operationalizing them. This means connecting them to existing systems, embedding them into real workflows, and making them dependable enough to support day-to-day business decisions.

That's where we believe the industry is headed, and it's where we're continuing to invest.

And that's all for this month's Digest.

Thanks for reading. If you'd like to learn more about any of these updates or see how Keyway can help your team, we'd love to connect.
